WHO WE ARE

Loudoun Broadband Alliance (LBA) is a non-profit* that was formed with a vision to promote development of accessible, reliable, and affordable broadband Internet access for the underserved in Loudoun County. LBA’s effort is driven by research, education, and advocacy to help move the community toward that goal.

LBA recognizes that there are multiple possible solutions and we will do our part to help the community and our legislators understand and choose those solutions that meet its needs.

Founded by a small group of individuals who live in Loudoun County’s Catoctin and Blue Ridge districts, LBA’s contributors volunteer our extra time and efforts toward partner acquisition, management and collaboration; professional networking; writing posts; conducting research, and other support.

The contributors came together in the fall of 2020 to form LBA because, for years, we have heard and read the concerns of so many of our neighbors, our local Loudoun businesses, and our friends who are struggling with Internet issues. Some of us are new to the county, having moved here within the past three years assuming there would be widespread broadband Internet just like at our previous residence. Other LBA supporters have been based in Northern Virginia for their lifetime, seeing the struggle to obtain broadband Internet and knowing that something has to change. We are just like everyone else out there, dealing with limited or no Internet, especially during these challenging days of Covid-19 as working from home and distance learning for all our family members has become a critical necessity.

By working together with our diverse skillsets, we can achieve the goal of promoting accessible, reliable, and affordable broadband Internet access across Loudoun County. Our experiences span numerous industries: finance, construction, telecommunications, cyber security, government, and consumer products to name a few. We have held roles in Project Management, Marketing, Network Administration, Public Relations, Engineering, and Accounting.

LBA is not and was not formed with the intent to create a business entity to delivery broadband services or be a service provider.

LBA invites you to support this effort and become a contributor in your own way to this shared vision.

*LBA is a non-stock, nonprofit corporation incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia. LBA is certified exempt under federal IRC 501(c)(3).
